Disneyland Paris has announced the cancellation of the following events scheduled to be held at the resort this year:
Disneyland Paris Pride (12 June 2021)
Electroland (2 – 4 July 2021)
Disneyland Paris Run Weekend (Autumn 2021)
This announcement comes as no surprise to Salon Mickey as further reports reach us that Euro Disney SCA Management have made several requests to The Walt Disney Company for Disneyland Paris to remain closed for the majority of 2021.
We understand that the requests were made to enable the resort to continue with the maintenance and refurbishment works required in preparation for the celebration of the resorts 30th Anniversary in 2022.
Health and safety concerns raised by Unions regarding the protection of Cast Members and Guests from the COVID-19 virus were also referenced.
Also highlighted was the inability of Guests with existing bookings being unable to visit the French Disney resort due to the travel restrictions implemented within France and by neighbouring countries.
To date we understand Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Inc. have refused to accept these requests and have instructed Disneyland Paris to re-open as soon as the French authorities allow.
To date Disneyland Paris is scheduled to re-open on 2 April 2021.
The British government announced on Monday that they plan to allow the re-opening of theme parks in England no earlier than 12 April 2021.
The earliest date people from England will be allowed to travel abroad for a holiday is expected to be 17 May 2021, but it is unknown what rules will implemented when holidays abroad are once again allowed.
The regional governments of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have not yet made any announcements regarding their plans for allowing foreign holidays.
