From Saturday 7 April 2018 French chef Jean Imbert will take over the kitchen of the Founder’s Club at the Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris. For a period of two months he will present a special culinary dining experience with a menu called “Petit Jean” which has been developed as a culinary trip inspired by classic Disney Films.
Gastronomy has always been a key part of Disney cartoons, with some scenes remembered by entire generations and by tapping into his childhood memories and respecting his culinary convictions (organic local products and committed suppliers) Jean Imbert has created a unique menu of 12 original recipes.
Jean Imbert got a taste for cooking at an early age and made it a way to express himself.
After years of concocting dishes for friends and family whilst on holiday in Sables-D’or-les-Pins in Brittany, the young man enrolled at the famous Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon after passing his baccalaureate exams. He had several placements working with top chefs during his course such as Michel Rostang in Paris and Antoine Westermann (Le Buerehiesel restaurant) in Strasbourg. Five years after beginning his culinary journey, Jean Imbert left the large teams behind to open his own restaurant, l’Acajou.
He became a chef-owner at the tender age of 22. He won Top Chef, a cooking programme on French TVs M6, in 2012 and grabbed the public’s attention. Popular for his cheery nature and creativity, he is now one of France’s favourite chefs and guests love joining him to try his bold local dishes.
For the “Petit Jean” dining experience, Jean Imbert was inspired by cult dishes such as the spaghetti from Lady and The Tramp reinterpreted with pasta with organic eggs and Limousin farmed calf . Organic vegetables will be used in the Ratatouille de Rémy, and the Gâteau de la Belle au Bois Dormant will be made with only organic ingredients.
Matching wines will also be offered and the selections will highlight vine growers engaged with bio-dynamic and vegan products.
This special pop up restaurant is part of an approach is part of a desire by Disneyland Paris for visitors to consume seasonal, fresh and natural products.
The two and a half hour “Petit Jean” Culinary Experience by Jean Imbert will open every evening from Tuesday to Saturday and will run from 7 April to 7 June 2018 with services at 18:30 and 21:00 at the Disneyland Hotel.
The 12 course tasting menu will include 5 organic wines and a glass of Lanson Green Label Champagne will cost €150 and a 5 course Childrens menu will available at €36.
The “Petit Jean” Culinary Experience is targeted at Disneyland Hotel guests, but other guests will be able to book three days in advance if availability remains. To book call the Disneyland Paris Dining Reservation Service on 00 33 1 60 30 40 50.
